Questions & Answers
Q: How do I register my child for Streetwise?
A: Fall 2011 registration is Sept 12 at 6:30 pm
Q: Can my child register for the whole year?
A: Yes. If your child would like to register for every Street wise experience they can do so. Payment is due upon the start of each experience, unless otherwise noted.
Q: Why does Streetwise cost money?
A: Street wise is designed to be a high quality and high value experience for kids. Kids will receive a lot for what they pay. For example, if kids sign up for Chef school they will receive a chef hat, an apron, and a custom made Street wise cookbook, not to mention the sweet food and cooking skills.
Q: Will I get more information about each Streetwise experience?
A: Yes. Approximately two months before each Street wise experience you will receive an information flyer that your children can give to their friends. Flyers will have more detailed descriptions of activities, costs, and registration information.
What’s in a Name … Streetwise?
We are on the lookout for Streetwise kids. A Street wise kid is ready to try something new, ready to develop new skills, ready to make new friends, and ready to bring Jesus to kids who don’t know Him yet.
Streetwise is made up of a variety of experiences that children Gr SK – 6 will enjoy and so will their friends. Each Streetwise experience provides children a unique opportunity to learn from people with expertise in a certain area. This year children will participate in Upward football, basketball, & ball hockey, explore the world of art design, build their own race car, learn to act, and even try cooking!
Streetwise is different from other community based programs. In addition to teaching new skills, Street wise is focused on growing kids from the inside out. When kids participate in Street wise they are provided another link to explore the same virtues they are already learning at church and at home. Each month kids learn about one virtue with their small group on Sunday morning, with their parents at home and now with their friends on Wednesday nights.
Each Streetwise experience ends with a parents’ night to keep the family and church partnering together. Streetwise is designed to help families raise up their kids and reach out to their friends and neighbors by providing a positive environment for children.
Let’s work together. Let’s make our kids Streetwise!
Streetwise Christmas Video
December 5, 2012
Streetwise families recently shared in the excitement of our Christmas Theme night. In the spirit of co-operation families made tasty Christmas cookies, decorated unique Christmas Trees, created snowmen from members in their own groups and were reminded that Christmas is about the story of baby Jesus in Luke 2:1-20. Take a moment to watch the video below:
